Instead of paying for CGI Scripts or web-builders you'll never need we simply give you a choice of blogs, a range of web stats and the freedom to blog under your own domain name.

How long will it take to set up my web hosting account?

Paypal payments are instant and Google Checkout Payments clear within a couple of hours. Your website is created as soon as cleared funds are received. The website is created automatically and you will receive an email with your username, password and other relevant hosting details as soon as this process has been completed.

Domain registration can take up to 48 hours (although it is usually much quicker), but you have a temporary web address which you can use until your domain is ready. However, we would recommend not installing any CGI Scripts to your temporary hosting address as when your domain becomes active the script can slow down because it has to redirect itself to the domain (Wordpress in particular has this problem).

What information do you require to set up my web hosting account?

We will require details of the domain or domains you wish to be hosted. We will also require your name, full postal address, email address and telephone number.

If I transfer to you will I need to purchase a new domain name?

No. Simply select and purchase a hosting package. You will be presented with the option to enter a domain name which you maintain with another service provider.

I don't have a domain name, do I need one for a web hosting account?

Yes you will. You can purchase a domain name from our website together with a web hosting package.

If I already have a domain name, can I still host with you?

Yes. All we need is the domain name to set-up your web hosting account.

Can I transfer my domain name to you?

Yes. It is free to transfer .uk names to us, however there is a charge for global names which is currently £9.99. When you transfer your global names to us we also add another year of registration free.

Do I have to transfer my domain name to you in order to use your web hosting services?

No. You may use our web hosting services but you will be required to point your domain name to our servers.

What are your nameservers?

Our nameservers are: ns.mainnameserver.com and ns2.mainnameserver.com

What is your IPS tag?

When transferring your domains to our control you should set the IPSTAG to EXTEND

Can I install CGI scripts on my website?

Yes. We also provide an extensive script library for some accounts which you can find in your hosting control panel.

Are Frontpage Extensions available?

No. Frontpage Extensions are no longer supported with the latest Apache web server software.

Do you support FTP?

Yes, FTP is supported.

Do you offer phpMyAdmin for database administration?

Yes, phpMyAdmin comes pre-installed into your control panel.

What if I exceed my monthly bandwidth?

If you exceed or are expecting to exceed your monthly bandwidth you should notify us immediately via our Ticket Support system. If you inform us that you do not expect to exceed your monthly bandwidth again in the following year we will increase your allowance for the month free of charge. We will not impose any penalty charges, nor will we suspend your account for any period of time (providing such usage complies with our terms and conditions).

However, if during the same renewal period of 12 months you exceed your bandwidth for a second time, you should inform our support team who will then require you to upgrade your hosting package. Failure to do so within a reasonable time frame may result in your account being suspended, but we will do this only as a final resort.

I am on your largest hosting package and I still expect to exceed my monthly bandwidth allowance?

If you are on one of our 6* packages and you expect to exceed your bandwidth you should contact our support team. They will discuss with you what bandwidth your acccount realistically requires and whether this kind of bandwidth can be offered via a shared hosting account. If it can be, we will agree a personalised upgrade price with you and send you an invoice to increase your bandwidth for a specified period of time.

If your bandwidth exceeds the recommended bandwidth for shared hosting then you will be offered a range of dedicated servers on a monthly rolling contract. Again, our support team will talk you through your options and will send you a personalised invoice if required.

What if I am on your largest hosting package and exceed my storage space?

All of our hosting packages come with a generous allowance of disk space which means that you are unlikely to ever go above your disk space allowance. However, should you expect to exceed it you will need to either delete some of your files or contact our support team. Our support team will discuss your storage needs and as long as your current usage complies with our terms and conditions then we can upgrade your storage space as needed sending you a personalised invoice.

What support am I entitled to with Blue Globe Web Hosting?

Like most web hosts you are entitled to basic support to ensure that all of the scripts on your server are running correctly, also like most web hosts we do not offer any extra support for using the scripts that you install unless we specifically state so. Our support service uses a ticket system that aims to solve your problems as quickly as possible, however, sometimes during peak support times, we may not be able to respond as quickly as we would like.

However, do not be fooled by web hosts who offer 24 hour support and then charge you a lot of money to host with them because, chances are, you will not use this support enough to get value for money. If you look at the support offered by the majority of web hosts it will not cover any scripts that you install, it will merely cover any technical server problems. If your server is Linux Red Hat (like ours) they are incredibly reliable and script problems are rare. More often than not, once you have your website set up you'll never need to contact support, so you're paying up front through increased hosting fees for something that you might not even use.

Using these guides you can have Wordpress installd within minutes and completely customised and ready to blog within hours. Once any script is running and set up correctly it very rarely goes wrong, but if you have any issues our support team will solve them as quickly as possible.

I have a Blog Hosting account, is there any way that I can add another CGI script to the account?

If you have a Joomla or Blog account you only have 1 mySQL database and only have a limited choice of blogging CGI scripts to install. If you wanted to add a second CGI script - for example, a chat forum - you will need to purchase two things: the CGI script that you want to install and a MySQL database to run it. You can purchase extra CGI scripts and mySQL Databases via add-ons in your Blue Globe Web Hosting Account. You will need to purchase 1 mySQL database for every CGI script that you buy and wish to install. Each CGI script is £1.99 per year and each mySQL database is £1.99 per year. Can I add extra sub-domains to my Blog account?

Yes. Simply log into your Blue Globe Hosting Account through this website and purchase a sub-domain as an add-on. Sub-domains are £1.99 each per year, but can be discounted if you purchase a CGI Script and mySQL database package. Click here for details.

What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept Paypal or Google Checkout.

I want to upgrade my hosting account, how do I do this?

If you want to upgrade your account you can do so at anytime by opening up a support ticket and giving details of the package that you would like to upgrade to. You will then be invoiced on a pro-rata basis to upgrade your hosting account until your initial renewal date. For example, if you had been on a 1* package for 6 months (£4.99 per year) and wanted to upgrade to 2* (£9.99 per year) then you would be invoiced for £2.50 (you have already paid £4.99 so upgrading for a full year would be an extra £4.99, but you are only upgrading for 6 months so £4.99 is divided by half and rounded up to £2.50). 

When your renewal date is reached you will then pay the new hosting fee in full for the folloing year - in the case of the example above your renewal fee would be £9.99.

I want to cancel my account, how do I do this?

Open a Ticket through our Support System and request that your account be cancelled. We are not able to offer any pro-rata refunds so your account will remain active until the end of the hosting period that you purchased unless you specifically request for it to be closed. Any domain names you have can be transferred to another host if you wish, but no refunds are available with domain names that you have purchased.
